It is situated off the old coastal road from Palma to Palma Nova just west of Majorca's capital city, which is only a short drive or bus ride away.

All possible facilities are close to Illetas, including sailing at Porto Portals (Portals Nous) and Palma, and golf courses at Bendinat and Santa Ponsa (all within 15 minutes drive). International schools are at San Agusti and Portals Nous (both a few minutes by car or bus). The area is compact and hilly with a fine sandy beach set in a scenic cove suitable for bathers.

The Illetas resort’s most celebrated visitor was possibly Errol Flynn, who had a fine house there. Sadly, neither he nor the house still stand, but the star was immortalised by a plaque in Paseo Illetas.
