Guide to Property in Mallorca - Port Pollenca

Port Pollenca is on the northern coast of Mallorca, about 35 minutes drive from Palma on the new improved motorway.

Framed by the backdrop of the Tramuntana mountain range and on the entrance to the Formentor peninsula, Port Pollenca is ideally situated. Originally a fishing village, Port Pollenca retains the low-key charm that other larger resorts have lost and is a firm favourite with families and couples.

Property in Port Pollenca can be more expensive than neighbouring Alcudia and the east coast, but usually on a par with the south-west. Apartments overlooking the famous Pine Walk in Port Pollenca can cost anything from £400K upwards, and price tags of €1m are not uncommon. More affordable properties can be found a few streets back, with apartments here starting from around £200K.

Four miles inland from Port Pollenca, lies the town Pollenca, which remains very typically Spanish and the narrow streets provide welcome shade in the height of summer. Town homes in Pollenca are very popular with overseas buyers, and old homes in need of renovation can be bought at reasonable prices.Whilst on the outskirts of town, modern villas and large rustic homes can be found in areas such as La Font and Vall d'en March.

The Bay of Pollensa stretches for several miles from the port around towards Alcudia. It is a haven for watersports enthusiast.
