Balearic Islands
Situated in the Mediterranean, 120 miles southeast of Barcelona are the idyllic islands of the Balearics, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
In spite of the close proximity of the different islands and the many common ties between them, each one has its own very different landscape. From Mallorca's famous coastlines and scenery coupled with white sandy beaches to Menorca's laid-back peacefulness and Ibiza's blend of traditional culture, cosmopolitan friendliness, and bohemian nightlife.
During the summer months the Balearics attract holidaymakers from across Europe, but out of season the Islands recover from their summer invasion to reveal a character that the majority of summer visitors never get to appreciate.
Like on the mainland, shops and offices often close from around 2-5pm for 'siesta'. In the hot summer month's people take full advantage of the cool night air; don't be surprised to see merry-go-rounds covered with children at 3am.
Property prices in the Balearics are similar to the mainland, although if you do have a few million to spare then Mallorca does have a number of exclusive 'movie star' mansions dotted around the island.
